Job Description:
The Auto Mechanic is responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and repair of the fleet as needed or required. Must obtain a State of Texas Vehicle Safety Inspector License within 120 days from date of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provides automotive diagnostics, repair, and routine maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
- Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
- Perform emissions inspections, safety and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations.
Required Qualifications
- Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
- Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate.
- At least two years of experience that includes working as an automotive mechanic, or two years in automotive repair vocational school training, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of automotive mechanic tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience tracking vehicle maintenance work using a computer program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in an auto shop or dealership service center as a mechanic.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing golf carts or utility vehicles.
- Experience working on small engines or diesel equipment.
- Automotive technical or vocational training certification, e.g., ASE.
