Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area in an aluminum foundry environment. The role involves operating and monitoring gravity casting equipment, preparing molds and cores, and performing aluminum melting and pouring operations according to safety and quality standards. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting cast parts, performing basic finishing operations (such as trimming, deburring, and surface preparation), and reporting any defects or process issues. The role also requires following detailed work instructions, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to meet production goals. The team member will contribute to continuous improvement efforts, participate in equipment checks and routine maintenance, and support efficient workflow across the foundry.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in metal casting or foundry operations, including gravity casting processes and handling molten aluminum safely.
- Basic mechanical skills, such as operating industrial equipment, using hand tools, and performing simple maintenance tasks.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and production documentation with attention to detail.
- Understanding of quality control practices, including visual inspection, dimensional checks, and defect identification.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a foundry environment with heat and noise.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with willingness to collaborate across production and engineering teams.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, automotive, biomedical, or lighting components is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in manufacturing or metals is an advantage.
